Biologist APM/PM
San Diego/Southern California
We have opportunities for mid/senior level Biologist/Planners to expand our biological team. The ideal candidate will have 4-10+ years working in the southern California environmental/CEQA field; a solid understanding of the local biological regulatory framework; and exceptional writing, personnel management, project management, and interpersonal skills. We are an established, independent biological company with an excellent client base, many long-term contracts, and a solid work backlog.
What you get to do:
Prepare CEQA compliant biological technical reports and other written work in conformance with relevant lead agency biological regulations
Serve as assistant pm/project manager for projects of varying complexity
Work with regulatory team on an as-needed basis, e.g., delineation report reviews, technical editing, support during permitting meetings, etc.
Conduct typical biological fieldwork, including vegetation mapping, focused/protocol species surveys, habitat assessments, etc.
Collaborate with the bio group on interesting projects
Prepare proposals and work with other senior staff on business development/priorities as needed
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
Experienced in writing CEQA documents in southern California (4+ years)
Solid understanding of local biological regulations, e.g., City of San Diego Biology Guidelines, MSCP, MSHCP, etc.
Bachelor’s or master's degree in environmental science, biological science or closely related field
Exceptional writing skills
Experience with NEPA compliance and documents
Outstanding collaboration and communication skills
High level of emotional intelligence with ability to get along with co-workers/clients; open to constructive feedback and improvement
Aside from possessing the skills outlined above, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and a solid work-ethic are key characteristics for the position.
